About Candance

What I Bring

  • Experienced leadership, serving as finance chair, currently school board president, and on numerous board committees over last four years
  • Extensive knowledge of student, school and teacher needs
  • Excellent strategic, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Passionate, trusted collaborator and advocate for schools and community
  • Extremely Hard Worker and still like to laugh because kids should know that having fun and serving others go hand in hand

Personal Commitment

I am committed to serving District 65 because I know what a difference education can make.  My mother instilled in me from an early age how important getting an education would be to my future.  She  wasn't able to complete  high school, struggled to provide for us, and knew she wanted more for me.  After my Mom, my  teachers and principals showed me best what could be possible for me.  I want to do my part in ensuring every child in Evanston sees that same possibility for their lives.

Professional Experience

In addition to the last four years in the role, my professional experience as a strategy and operational improvement consultant to nonprofits and businesses for the last twenty plus years has prepared me for school board service.  See my LinkedIn profile for details about my professional, educational and volunteer leadership background.
